Remember this cute little puppy that some heartless fool dumped out in the country? Sorry, I shouldn't speak that way, but I just don't understand how someone could dump an animal to starve or be coyote/bob cat/cougar bait. But that is a soap box I won't step on tonight.
Pepper started getting a bump on her right hip, and at first we thought she might have just gotten bit by something. We hoped it would just go away, but it didn't. It just kept getting bigger, and bigger, so I took her to the vet.
Dr. Dysktra put a needle in the bump to find out what was in it. Pepper did great. She laid on that stainless steel table leaning into me with all her might. We were nearly one.
Dr. D said she thought it was either an abscess or a cyst. We had a decision to make. We could put her on antibiotics and hope it goes away, meaning hope it is a treatable abscess. Or, we could sedate her and cut it out.
I decided to have her cut it out, and I am glad that we did. It turned out to be a cyst, and the antibiotics might not have worked on that.
I warned ya in the title that there would be wound photos, so here they are...
She was a little drowsy when McD picked her up from the vet, and then she couldn't get comfortable in some of her favorite spots so we figured she must be in some pain. We gave her a pain pill, and she settled down for the night.
There is still some swelling, but it is going to be all better soon.
Why is it that when dogs find you they cost more than the ones we pick for ourselves? It just always seems to work that way.
Pepper is doing great! She is running, jumping, and playing just like nothing happened.
