They are holding a little photo contest over at I Heart Faces. I spent most of the day looking for the photos that we took of the kiddos playing in the snow, but I couldn't find that disc. I had to grab it off flickr. :)

I have decided to join the Round Robin Photo Challenges this year. It sounds fun, and it will get involved in photography again. I haven't picked up my camera in at least two months, so this is the nudge I needed.
Today's challenge is: "I've always wanted to photograph..."
Well, I have always wanted to photograph a lot of things but they just aren't close enough for me to get to. I want to photograph the Grizzly Bears in Alaska. I'd love to photograph an oil derrick all lit up at night. I want to lay at the base of a huge wind turbine and take a photo. Since I couldn't get to these places to photograph these things, I dug in my archives and found a photo that I had waited years to take.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Last year about this time, I was able to go to Arlington Cemetary. I'd heard about it. Read about it. Dreamt about it. Then, finally, experienced it.
I was told that I *had* to see the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. And that was exactly what I wanted to do. I was able to experience it twice on this trip, and I am so thankful. I hope people that live in that area still appreciate it, and still go to experience it as often as they can. I know I would.
The silence only interrupted by the clicking of the guards heels. The precise movements as he moved the rifle from one shoulder to the other. The feeling of patriotism filling the air. All of this you *have* to experience at least once. I thought I was patriotic before, but after seeing this and all of the headstones of all of the men and women who fought for us I feel even more patriotic than before.

The other day I asked what everyone was reading. I also told you that I was reading The Last Child by John Hart. "Was" is the keyword here. I couldn't put it down. Read this blurb from Goodreads about this book.

I don't know about you, but I am one of those people that's constantly trying to figure the story out. I got to a certain point in this book and just knew that I had it all figured out. Boy, was I wrong!
I've read reviews of this book where the people didn't approve of Mr. Hart's writing style, but I liked it. It was a very easy read. So easy that it took me 2 days to read it.
Johnny thinks his sister's abduction case has gone cold, but his investigation was on-going. Mr. Hart shows us just how resourceful this 13 year-old boy could be. Believe it or not, I choose to believe it, there are 13 year-olds out there in the real world that are this resourceful.
I like shows like NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, The Mentalist, etc. This could very well have been an episode on any one of these shows.

This morning I have been blog browsing, or browsing blogs, however you want to say it. I came across this blog that I can really relate to.
Janet lays out in the pasture to get photos of her cattle. ME TOO!
She doesn't even look before she lays down in the pasture, lol, me either. So far, I have not landed in a cow pie. Where's the wood? I have to knock on some wood. Not really, I am not a superstitious person. Why do they say knock on wood anyway?
Back to the point here. Sorry.
Do you like bacon bits? This isn't a trick question. This is a legit one. Do. You. Like. Bacon. Bits? If you say no, I will be shocked! Who doesn't like bacon bits?
Well, Janet found the perfect bacon for bacon bits. I can't wait to try this myself!

Occassionally, I find funny stories as I read other peoples blogs. The other day I found this one on Booshy.
I love knowing that I am not the only one that takes trips, and photos but then doesn't get around to blogging about them for a long time. I have several photos waiting to be posted. I just have to take the time.
I'd love to go to Hawaii! Love it! I don't see it happening any time soon, but it would be fun! I don't know if I will be going in any lava tunnels though. Not if there are Twigs and Berries. Oh and Jazz Hands!
I will never look at Twigs, Berries, or Jazz Hands the same ever again!

Who plays Words With Friends? Or WWF as people like to call it? Wasn't that some sort of Professional Fake Wrestling thing? Whether it was or not, that is what I think of every time I see WWF.

Every once in a while I ask everyone what they are reading. Let's do that today. Because I have a brain fart and cannot think of the gazillion posts I had thought of posting. I hate it when that happens!
So, instead of worrying about it, I am taking my nook and reading a good book. Right now I am reading The Last Child by John Hart. Kristen over at Dine & Dish suggested it to me, and she was right on.
After I ate some cookie dough yesterday I decided I really needed to get on the elliptical, so I did and I started reading this book.
Last night I got to page 103 before I had to go to bed. I could have stayed up all night reading, but I just knew I needed to save some of it for today. :) So, I did.
I hope to finish it today. And then. Then I plan on seeing what else this author has to offer.
Do you do that?
Do you find a book that you really like, and then try to read everything the same author has written?
I tend to do that, sometimes - not all the time.
I am also reading The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a real book, not an ebook. I just wanted you to know that. For some odd reason I feel like you should know that I have not abandoned real books all together. I can't. I love books. And if I had it my way I would line the guest bedroom with bookshelves and fill them to the brim, but I can't.
So, please tell me. What are you reading? Or what do you suggest I read?
Next on my list is Room by Emma Donoghue, and possibly Labor Day by Joyce Maynard. There are way too many to list here.

It even can haunt you. What's your unfinished business?
My unfinished business, is a really big pile of cross-stitch projects that I have either started or bought with the intention of starting. My goal this year is to finish several projects. I've always cross-stitched things for other people, and this year I plan on putting some finished projects on my walls. (My fingers are crossed!)
Nothing earth shattering here.
