Abby & Mia - New Best Friends

Re-introducing...

 

If you read the previous post then you are aware that we had to change the little pup's name.  It is amazing how fast she has picked up her new name.  She never really got the other one, so she probably wonders why we haven't been talking to her.  :)

A few people have requested some photos, so here ya go. 

Mia's face when she got the news that she was going to have a new baby sister.  Shocked? Scared? Dumbfounded?

Mordecai meeting his new baby sister.  He was not happy at all.  He avoided us for almost a full week.  He still hasn't fully recovered, but he is coming around.  I am having Mordecai withdrawals.  He stays outside all the time, and he won't cuddle with me like he used to. 

Miss Abby sleeping her first night here.  After she ate her first meal with us her stomach was so full.  She had to be miserable.  She laid her head down on Mia's bed and fell fast asleep.

The next thing you know she is pulling on Mia's ears, barking, growling and carrying on.  They play well together.  Mia sometimes forgets to be easy with her, but when reminded she eases up a bit.  I am trying to get some video of them playing so you can get the full effect. 

After they played, they snacked.

How cute is that?  Seriously?  Abby wants to be just like Mia when she grows up.  She follows her around, tries to run with her, and tries to eat the big dog food out of the big dog bowl.  

Then it is time for bed, and she wants to sleep with her.  They do this every single night.

Mia can sleep in that position for hours, but Abby is a wild sleeper.  She may start out like this, but in 20 minutes she will turn around the other way, or hang her head off of the bed.  Half the time she ends up under the couch, which brings back memories of my Hoss rolling up under the bed at night and me having to get him out of there without hurting him.  I hope she isn't starting a bad habit.

She loves her Mia.  It is funny how much she reminds me of a little kid looking up to an older kid.  

Isn't that just the sweetest thing?

The Name Has Changed

But the puppy is the same. 

Mia and Ziva, the names, just don't work together. 

Mia thinks we are saying her name, and Ziva just wasn't learning her name.  We thought the M and Z would set the names apart, but we were wrong.  Oh so wrong.  I think the only sound they heard was the a at the end of their names.  So, we decided to change her name.  

We are going to call her Abby.

We wanted to stay with the NCIS theme.  We think she will catch on to her new name much better.  No worries, we won't be changing her name again. 

But we will be getting her a studded dog collar, kind of like Abby on NCIS. 

Oh, and for the record, we will be getting her ears cropped.  I am not really sure how people say that cropping their ears is cruel.  It isn't like they are awake when it happens.  If you think about it, it is kind of like when parents take their little daughters to get their ears pierced.  Except they don't knock them out to do it. 

That is just my take on it.

Right now I am focusing on my garden.  Photos coming soon!  I am so excited!!

I Want One!

A Kindle that is.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my books and I will always buy books.  But I really, really want a Kindle. 

First of all, I like to read while I am on the treadmill or elliptical.  Have you ever tried to read a book while you are working out?  It is difficult to keep the book open to the page you are reading, but with a Kindle it was great! 

People mentioned that when traveling they could download the books instead of hauling around 5 books.  That is normally what I do.  I normally have at least 3 books with me at all times.  So, I think the Kindle is a great idea.

Now, if I ever get a Kindle I will probably only download books that McD and I would read without passing on to other people.  I am pretty sure that if I get a Kindle, he would use it too.  Or I hope he would.  I even chatted with my good friend that let me borrow it, and we may even share an account. 

I really wish I could try the iPad out before purchasing a Kindle, but who am I kidding I can't afford the iPad.  Now I just have to hope I get a Kindle for my birthday.  That would be pretty darn cool.

The Dark Side

You want to know why I didn't blog last night? Well, let me tell you.

I went over to the dark side.

I traded my book for a Kindle, gasp!

Okay, so I borrowed the Kindle from a very dear friend of mine. She just knows I'll love it. And I do!!

I like it!

I just had one of those He likes it! Mikey likes it! moments. Yes, I am strange, and I enjoy being that way. Don't you?

So, I am reading a good book called Sweet Waters by Julie Carobini. I just drew a blank, so I hope that is the right title.

I know, I know. I posted a while back that I loved my books, and that I don't want a Kindle. But, I am getting ready to go and sit at the hospital all day tomorrow with my dad. He is having another stent put in. What a perfect time to try it out.

I know there are pros and cons about the Kindle. What are your thoughts? My biggest issue is that I can't share books this way. I love sharing good books.

Hmmm, decisions, decisions. :)

My Favorite Thing

about McD...

is his laugh.  It is one of the most contagious laughs I have ever heard.  His laugh is genuine.  He rarely laughs unless it is genuine.  One of the things that makes me say this is my favorite thing about McD is because I can be away from him and just think of his laugh, and it makes me giggle.  I love his laugh!

McD said that his favorite thing about me is my smile.  He said that he loves it when I can't stop smiling.  You see, when I start smiling I cannot stop.  I don't even realize when I am smiling half the time.  McD does this crazy thing, we can be driving down the road and out of nowhere he will say "Don't Smile."  Well, as soon as he says that I immediately smile.  I just can't help it.  He says he loves that.

For both you and McD, what is your most favorite memeory... together and seperatly. 

WOW!  This was a hard one, well most of these are hard ones.  They aren't really hard questions, it is just hard to narrow the answers down to one thing.  

For me, I would have to say that my favorite memory of McD and I together would be when we used to go camping and rappelling all the time.  We are going to try to try to get back to that.  My first response to this question was when we were building our house, and living in the fifth wheel.  You will see why I didn't use that one. :)  And my favorite memory, separately - would have to be my family memories.  I have too many great memories to pick just one.  Family is very special to me.

McD said that his best memory of us together was when we were living in the fifth wheel.  Great minds think alike I guess.   A lot of people thought we were crazy for selling our home and furnishings to live in a fifth wheel.  But we loved it while it lasted.   When I asked McD what his favorite memory separate memory was he said it was when his boys were born.  (I won't even mention how much I had to help with his answers.)  :)

Let's talk music. What do you listen to now? McD?

Music!  Let's talk music!  I LOVE music!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!  If it has a beat, I will listen to it.  I am not a huge fan of rap music, but I do like the early rap.  You know like the Beastie Boys.  :)  I love Elvis, the Beatles, 60s, 70s, 80s.  I recently just bought a Lady Gaga cd, and I really like it.  I love country music too.  Especially the old stuff, but the new stuff is pretty good too.  Oh and the crooners, gotta love them.  Then there's the hymns.  Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash, Brad Paisley just to name a few, sing the hymns beautifully. 

McD and I listen to pretty much the same music.  He can live without the music of today, unless it is country.  He loves the older country music, and old rock and roll.

Hi Bev,  Thank you for ambling on over.  :)  I have answered this question before, so I will just link to it here.  And we live approximately 85 miles apart.  (That is a guess.)

Did you change anything or do you live life any differently since your near death experience?

Yes Sheila, I did.  We did.  McD and I both did.  We had been going to church, but not consistently.  That changed.  McD didn't quite understand why I wanted to be with my family all of the time, but after that scare we started visiting his family more and more as well.  Since so much time has gone by things have changed again and again.  We still attend church, that will never change, but we don't get to see our families as much as we would like.

Now this is a hard one.  Have you ever just sat down and thought about your favorite thing about your spouse/significant other?  It is so hard for me to pick just one thing. 

So I will save this question for later.  We will finish answering questions tomorrow.

Introducing...

She is finally here. 

I would like to introduce you Ziva, our new Doberman Pinscher.

Ziva, everyone.  Everyone, Ziva. 

She is quite a mess.  She whined so much when we got her we almost decided to name her after a wine.  When I mentioned that to her she quit whining and went to sleep.  We went through a list of names, added names to the list, and then finally settled on Ziva.  We love the show NCIS, and the character Ziva is one lethal lady.  We want our lady Ziva to look lethal.  She is supposed to be a guard dog, and she will be trained to do just that.  So we felt like the name fit.  When she gets her ears cropped she will look even more Ziva like. 

Right now, as I type this she is playing with a sleeping Mia.   Mia wasn't quite sure about Ziva last night, but they have played almost all day.  They play a little, then they sleep a little.  They are so cute together.  I will post more photos of them together another time. 

Oh little Ziva is a chewer.  She chews everything and she pees everywhere.  I didn't sleep much last night because I was too worried about Ziva and Mia getting along.

Now I am going to print out all of your questions for McD and I, and get those babies answered while we sit here and watch the snow blow.

Finally - The Winner

Wow!  What a week we have had.  It has been pretty awesome.  I will have a ton of stories and a few photos later.  I have a lot of catching up to do on here, and here at the house.  I will start working on all of that this afternoon.
